Dry Wall Holes Are Unavoidable:

If you own or rent a home, you are no stranger to the occasional repair. Dry wall holes and cracking are inevitably going to happen and here is how you can fix it quickly and correctly. After all a job worth doing is worth doing well!

1. Remove any debris and sand the area

 The first step to a successful repair is to start by removing/brushing away any loose pieces as well as LIGHTLY sanding the area with a super fine grit. What you want is a smooth and clean surface before moving to the next step.

2. Apply your mesh patch

We use mesh patching for small to medium drywall holes. The patching shouldn't be too big or small and if you go to your local Home Depot or Lowe's they should carry multi-packs of patching. These are great in terms of finding the best sized patch for the hole and extras to have on hand for future repairs. The typical brand we use is FibaTape by Adfors. Once applied youre ready to apply Joint Compound

3. Apply Joint Compound

Joint compound comes pre-mixed. As you can see in the video below, we mix it again to ensure a smooth application. This will take multiple coats so apply lightly and the goal is to have it flush with the surrounding drywall.

4. Ready to retexture!

Our go-to quick and easy texture spray is "White Lightning" water-based orange peel texture spray. At roughly $20 a can you can create a flawless finish. Lightly spray and let it dry and you are ready for the last step!

5. Lastly, paint over your repair

Once your texture is dry you are ready to prime and apply the matching paint! At this point the wall should look brand new and flush with the rest of the home.
